Why Traditional Healthcare Models Fall Short

Healthcare is changing, and for a good reason.

When you schedule a doctor's visit, you might feel like just another number. You come in, wait, have a quick chat with the doctor, and before you know it, you're out the door with a prescription in hand. It is quick, yes, but is it really helping us get to the bottom of our health problems? For many, the answer is absolutely no.

That's where functional medicine comes in, and it's the kind of healthcare I'm proud to practice. Think of it like this- instead of just putting a band-aid on your symptoms, we're digging deeper to find out what's really going on. I love being a detective for your health. We look at your whole story – what you eat, how you sleep, your stress levels, and even things that happened in your past that might be affecting you now.

In traditional healthcare models doctors unfortunately often don't have the time to do this. We're talking about visits that last maybe 20 minutes. That's not enough time to really understand someone's health.

Now that I practice Functional and Integrative Medicine, I get to spend more time with each person who walks through my clinic's doors. We talk about everything, and I mean everything, that could be affecting their health. And we don't just talk; we do thorough tests that look for things like vitamin levels, how your body's using energy, and whether your hormones are in balance. We truly cover it all!

It's also not just about the purely medical approach to healing. Before, I might have given you a diet plan because that is all I had time to do. Now we go through what to eat, how to handle stress, and how to get better sleep. I work with a team that includes a health coach, so we're all in this together with you!  We're here to help you understand your health and make changes that last.

I'm really grateful to be doing this kind of work. It's about giving people the attention and care they really need. And let me tell you, it feels great to see someone get better because you've helped them understand their health in a whole new way.

That's what good care is all about!
